About Ben Mayes

Ben Mayes has been designing, creating and managing corporate and personal websites for the past seven years, as well as creating graphics for print and physical media since 2003.

I created my business, Arcane Graphics, in December 2007. Before then, I was involved with freelance web design for over four years. During this time, I focused on improving my design skills and perfecting what I’d already learned; that hand-coded, custom made and user friendly websites were always a winner.

I specialise in standards compliant XHTML and CSS web design, including features built with PHP, JavaScript and AJAX. Websites created by Arcane Graphics are made to the highest standard; I’m also often willing to add extra value to a client’s project, in the form of seasonal or repeat project discounts and much more.

As well as web design, I offer logo and branding design services and print design services such as business card design, poster and flyer design and the design of other promotional materials for businesses and private individuals; either designed to match as close as possible to an existing business identity or as part of a whole package of new work for a business overhaul or start-up company.

    • An Analysis of Typography on the Web September 3, 2010
Typography is one of the most—if not the most—important aspects of web design. Some would argue that it takes up to 95% of web design, so why do we often neglect its importance? The readers who come to your site will often decide whether or not to stay according to your typographic choices. After all, [...]
